ESPN’s College Gameday coming to Eugene to cover Arizona State vs. Oregon
From Examiner.com:
For the second time in this 2011 season, the Oregon Ducks will be featured on ESPN’s College Gameday. The Ducks and LSU Tigers faced off in the season-opener for College Gameday, and, as announced Sunday morning, the October 15 matchup between Arizona State and Oregon will be the site for the most well-respected college football program in the country.
In last year’s game, Arizona State nearly took down the Ducks as they put up a ridiculous 567 yards of offense. Their passing threat, however, turned into their worst enemy, as the ballhawking Oregon defense intercepted 4 passes and scored twice – on a 39-yard interception return by safey John Boyett and a 32-yard fumble return by Boseko Lokombo.
The Sun Devils are coming off a 35-14 win over Utah and are ranked in the top 30 in passing yards, points scored, and points against. With a 5-1 record, ASU holds down the #18 ranking in the AP.
Oregon, meanwhile, came out in a hurry against Cal in the second half after trailing 15-14 at halftime. The Ducks went on to win 43-15, but a dislocated elbow for Heisman contending running back LaMichael James kept the celebration at a minimum. Despite missing almost the entire fourth quarter, James was named the Walter Camp offensive player of the week for his 239-yard performance.
His status for Saturday’s game is up in the air. James has three consecutive 200-yard rushing performances. Through five games this season, James has amassed 852 yards on 95 carries for a 9 yard average.
The kickoff is set for 7:15 pm PT at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.
