LaMichael James and Jordan Poyer earn Pac-12 honors
From the Register-Guard:
Oregon’s LaMichael James and Oregon State’s Jordan Poyer were chosen as Pac-12 players of the week, along with Arizona State linebacker Shelly Lyons.
James, the conference’s offensive selection, set school records with 288 rushing yards and 363 all-purpose yards in the Ducks’ 56-31 win at Arizona. James also scored a pair of touchdowns in the game and now leads the nation in rushing with 603 yards for an average of 153.3 yards.
James’ 288-yard rushing performance ranks 10th in conference history for a single game and his all-purpose total came within 21 yards of the conference record set by UCLA’s Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Washington in 2004.
Poyer returned a punt 85 yards for an OSU touchdown in a 27-19 loss to UCLA to earn the conference’s special team honor. The junior from Astoria now ranks second in the nation in punt returns, averaging 25.3 yards.
Lyons returned his first career interception 41 yards for a touchdown in ASU’s 43-22 victory over USC. Among his four tackles was one for lost yardage.
